Fine with me, but I have 2 comments:

  . Please add a NEWS entry and mention this in the 2 manuals.
  . Please modify the test so that it doesn't invoke programs which
    might not exist on non-Posix platforms; my obvious suggestion
    would be to invoke a subordinate Emacs.
