Likewise. I am simply mystified by the assertion that offline developers can't easily use Git. Git works very well in offline environments.

Although years ago academics often had better hardware for Emacs hacking, that's no longer the case. I do most of my GNU-related development on my own time on a personal desktop and laptop that I bought with my own money, and these machines are considerably better than the desktop in my office at UCLA. Git works better on my personal machines than it does on my UCLA-supplied equipment.
