Not true. I customized isearch not to save unnecessary search strings
to the search history on exiting isearch, and an additional key C-RET
defines whether to exit with keeping the current search in the history
or not. This way I have only frequently used search strings in the
search history saved to the desktop file to be reused later. Some are
quite complex regexps that would be a waste of time to retype again.
