It would be an improvement if this were articulated somewhere in list
description. AFAIK, it is not.

Though I do not agree that explaining that "there is nothing to fear"
will remove the fear. It is not how things work in psychology. Not
always, at least.

In any case, explained or not, this kind of convention will (1) force
people to expose their email in the thread; (2) create an extra obstacle
to participate; (3) still gives no 100% guarantee that future discussion
will be CCed.
