I don't currently share an org-mode files with others, but it seems
to me that you can very easily use CVS or something similar. Then
every user can work on their own copy of the same file. If
everyone sticks to his/her region in the file, merging will be very
easy.

Plain text does have its advantages.

Hi Org Users,

Does anyone use org-mode with multiple users? Do you just locate an
org file on a shared drive? Don't you have problems with only one
person being able to access the file at a time?

It's wonderful to be able to use org-mode individually, but when you
work in a team environment it would be really nice to all be on the
same system where you can assign tasks to others, act on tasks
assigned by others, and review tasks assigned to others.

One problem is, if the team can't use org-mode, then you can only use
org-mode in addition to whatever the team chooses, and often only with
some redundant work.

Does anyone have an idea how org-mode could work in a large team
environment without needing to add a ton of client-server code to
org-mode?

Or, if you've seen excellent task management software for larger
groups that you highly recommend I'd love to hear about that as well.

Thank you,
Scott
