Huh. I looked at the HELLO file, and you seem to be right. It's pulling in fonts as needed for various South Asian, East Asian, and Middle/Near Eastern languages, but still failing horribly with unicode box drawing, as well as
various symbols (like the recycle symbol, which we use abundantly on
identi.ca). Perhaps Consolas falsely reports that it has those symbols.
