[O] causing work by pasting links

*  .... before i paste a link i type [[
* [[|]]  .... this leaves the point right there.

then i paste and now i want to press [ to write my notes. when i do,
* [[http://link[|]]] i get a completely unexpected reaction.

you know what i mean, yes?

* [[http://link][|]] is what i'd like to see.  any tips to fix or fixes would be much appreciated.
