This pretest builds, installs, and executes with no errors and no
unexpected warnings on sparc64-sun-solaris9 using Sun's Forte C
compiler
(address@hidden)5% cc -V
cc: Forte Developer 7 C 5.4 2002/03/09
usage: cc [ options] files. Use 'cc -flags' for details
and otherwise SunOS 5.9 tools
I built with LEIM. Configure said
Where should the build process find the source code? /ufs/sys2/FSF/Emacs/21
/2/95/emacs-21.2.95
What operating system and machine description files should Emacs use?
`s/sol2-5.h' and `m/sparc.h'
What compiler should emacs be built with? cc -g -O
Should Emacs use the GNU version of malloc? yes
Should Emacs use a relocating allocator for buffers? yes
Should Emacs use mmap(2) for buffer allocation? no
What window system should Emacs use? x11
What toolkit should Emacs use? LUCID
Where do we find X Windows header files? /usr/openwin/include
Where do we find X Windows libraries? /usr/openwin/lib
Does Emacs use -lXaw3d? no
Does Emacs use -lXpm? yes
Does Emacs use -ljpeg? no
Does Emacs use -ltiff? no
Does Emacs use -lungif? no
Does Emacs use -lpng? no
Does Emacs use X toolkit scroll bars? no
I continue to have a problem with the command below
$ emacs -bg rgb:ff/f7/e9
Undefined color: "rgb:ff/f7/e9"
on my 8bit color display. This works if run before Netscape (v7.0)
and fails if run after Netscape. I believe that this is a problem
with the Sun X libraries. The color in question *is* in the current
colormap (in fact, it is the background color of the window in which
I am composing this message) but emacs is not able to use it for some
reason. I continue to try to find out why but I am not an X programmer
so it is slow sledding.
