    In many if not all of the crashes the related auto-save-file (like
    .saves-15321-arc~) is corrupted:  It consists of a couple of empty
    lines, no other characters than new-lines in it.  No way to use
    recover-session after the crash.  Maybe this is related, maybe not.

Can you look at the data structures used in writing that file
and see if you can figure out what is wrong with them that might
lead to that sort of result?  You will probably find at least
one bug that way.
