feature request for adjustable column width in buffer-menu buffers

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

Buffer names often are truncated in buffer-menu buffer columns,
requiring guessing for the correct buffer.  It would be nice to allow
some level of automatic adjustment of the column width, or some other
type of width customization.

(Monitors are much larger than they were, and X fonts can be much
smaller while still remaining clear.)


In GNU Emacs 21.3.50.1 (i686-pc-linux-gnu, X toolkit, Xaw3d scroll bars)
