I was talking about the released version.  I didn't realize it has

I see.  That's worse because you apparently can't break out by
selecting a menu either.  The obvious way to prevent this is to have
x-popup-dialog reject an arg with nothing to select, which I could
probably fix easily.

Does that mean that Gtk treats ESC specially?  That seems a bit
unfortunate, though I suppose it's not a big deal if it's only when a
menu is dropped down.

The dialogue box doesn't have WM decoration, so you can't get rid of
it that way.

Ah, I didn't realize that popups were special, if that's what it
means.  Thanks for the explanation.  This probably deserves a mention
in PROBLEMS or somewhere else.
