garbage collection bug

I can consistently replicate the garbage collection bug that was reported in
gnu.emacs.bug with vm by the following (slightly different) procedure with
my latest cvs build. 

emacs -q
C-x C-f /su:address@hidden:/var/log/dansguardian/access.log

It would appear to be sensitive to the file length, currently

  /var/log/dansguardian:
  total used in directory 1660 available 586808
  drwxr-xr-x    2 squid    squid        4096 Jun 19 20:42 .

I have been able able to crash with the same steps with earlier builds but
couldn't earlier this week
