I didn't mention it, but I'm actually building on a Windows XP box.
'make autoloads' doesn't get far at all:
c:/djgpp/emacs-21.3/nt $ make autoloads
[Please ignore a syntax error on the next line - it is intentional]
Syntax error: Unterminated quoted string
c:\chris\mingw\2.0.0-3\bin\make.exe: *** No rule to make target `autoloads'.
Stop.
'make bootstrap' does a lot better, but while doing the
""./oo-spd/i386/temacs.exe" -batch -l loadup bootstrap" command:
Loading files (source)...
Loading cus-face (source)...
Loading faces (source)...
Invalid read syntax: ")"
make.exe[1]: *** [bootstrap-emacs] Error -1
make.exe[1]: Leaving directory `c:/djgpp/emacs-21.3/src'
c:\chris\mingw\2.0.0-3\bin\make.exe: *** [bootstrap-gmake] Error 2

OK, but I do seem to have to do something that I'm not doing...

Fine.
Chris.
