O.k. it's not comint, it's all modes that don't have their own font-lock setup. 
 I now check this against the existence of font-lock-defaults, else set that 
variable myself, instead of using font-lock-add-keywords.  Is that safe, or are 
there other ways for a mode to have a font-lock setup?
