   If so, that sounds like a very personal preference, probably not
   shared by the majority of users of windowed GUI systems.  So it's
   IMHO not a good guideline to judge the default Emacs behavior and
   base design decisions on.

Perhaps. Anyway, the size and resizing of the window wasn't the
source of the problem (or even really related) after all.
