I was referring to `(elisp)Lazy Properties' and the fact that they're
not updated by primitives that access text properties (as opposed to
buffer text).
I agree that in some sense it would be cleaner to make
get-text-property update the lazy properties. That might even be a
good idea.
Would you like to try implementing this?
It is true that this might result in some slowdown, but the feature is
hardly ever used, and computers are so fast these days that people
might not even notice the slowdown. There will only be a slowdown in
modes which use this feature.
