When I invoke Emacs v21.3.50.1 in a cmd shell on MS Windows XP home,
it usually works fine.
However, if I run
emacs -nw -q --no-site-start
when the command shell window is maximized, the height of Emacs is
about twice too high, which I can see, when I use the scrollbars.
See the variable w32-use-full-screen-buffer.
I was using the latest binary from http://nqmacs.sf.net/
You're right. Evaling
(setq w32-use-full-screen-buffer nil)
fixes the problem.
I wonder if w32 has some way of checking the process table for telnet,
and attempting to be more intelligent?
Some way of checking if the current host is local?
Otherwise, frankly, I never use Emacs in a 'dos' window.
