buggy highlighting (show-paren-mode)

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

Start Emacs (CVS version as of 2004-04-26) with the options
--no-init-file --no-site-file. Enter "M-x show-paren-mode RET". Insert
a pair of parenthesis. Position the point after the closing
parenthesis. The whole window region after the closing parenthesis is
then highlighted. I expected only the pair of parenthesis to be
highlighted.

This bug doesn't seem to be present in the last released version.
