    Of course, I will certainly try.  I would have done more debugging
    with this crash, but printing a value went into (what seemed like) an
    infinite loop.  After control-c'ing out of the loop gdb could not find
    any symbols.  Next time I'll do better.

When Emacs is in such a bad state, you should not try calling
functions from GDB.  So use the x... commands to examine data,
rather than the pr command.
