Now we are getting somewhere! I did a fresh CVS check-out, and the
problem is fixed with emacs -q --no-site-file.
But there is still a bug lurking here. Start emacs with -q
--no-site-file, then maximize the window with your window manager,
then eval this:
(set-default-font "-monotype-courier
new-medium-r-normal--18-0-0-0-m-0-iso8859-1")
And the same old problem with vertical-motion re-appears!
It doesn't matter whether you maximize the window first or change the
font first, either way (vertical-motion 1) stops working, but it seems
that neither of these steps will trigger the bug on its own -- you
need to do both.
