If you step inside x_error_quitter you see that it does a sprintf to 
buf1.
Can you print buf1?  Also, can you tell me what version of GTK you are
using?  If you could try a non-GTK build and see if the same thing 
happens
that would be valuable information. Does this only happen when using SSH
or also when SSH is not used?
