It's still not clear to me whether this is really specific to x86 (>386), i.e. why is it `setarch i386' and is it relevant to other architectures where `setarch i386' would presumably fail.
Good point. I've changed the test so that setarch is only used on x86
and if exec-shield is turned on for some other architecture, configure
bails out with a reference to (the now updated) etc/PROBLEMS.
