emacs -q

M-x find-file of some file

C-x C-b

Mark the file for saving (S) in *Buffer List*. Mark other buffers in
different ways, if you like.

Click the header line on a column, to sort it.

All marks disappear.

This is inconvenient. What is the rationale for erasing marks when you sort
a column? You might have 50 buffers with several marks of different kinds,
and you want to click different column headers to compare different buffer
listings. Why would you want all the marks you made to disappear?

That marks disappear when you explicitly revert the buffer is OK - that's
like what happens in Dired - "revert" means revert, so it's OK that marks
disappear. But when you click to sort a column you are not intending to
revert (and erase marks); you just want to sort a column.
