Problem with underlined Info xrefs

In GNU Emacs 21.3.50.47 (i686-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.0.2)
 of 2004-10-17 on defun.localdomain
configured using `configure '--with-gtk''

The new underlined face for Info xrefs looks much nicer than before.

But there's a problem for xrefs in indented paragraphs (such as
@enumerate and @itemize items), because the underlining extends from
the left margin.

This screen shot from a node in a Texinfo version of the ANSI Common
Lisp standard shows the problem:
