So it seems, no. I did a CVS update and ./configure; make bootstrap;
make install. And I just hung again while ediffing two files (none of
my own elisp involved this time; just regular M-x ediff). Just in case
I did a make extraclean and then another CVS update and am now in the
process of ./configure; make bootstrap after making sure that my
sources in fact had the BLOCK_INPUT foo in callproc.c which they do.
