I'm sorry. It looks as though a CVS update got mangled somehow. I
had a syntactically-correct chunk of lines missing from imenu.el.
I've seen something like that happen recently when doing differences.
I wonder what's wrong with my system...
As imenu-progress-message is now null, it probably makes sense to
remove it from cperl.el, which is the only place it's used.

No, it takes an age, but it couldn't have done any good if the macro
didn't show up in a grep.
