Ugly markers in grep buffers

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

When running M-x grep RET, the match strings get highlighted, but also
followed with ESC [K (they are not prefixed by anything; I suppose
that this gets cleaned up).

Here is a small example:

This is pretty annoying.  I have a rather up to date Fedora system, so
grep and terminal settings should be very much as expected on a GNU
box (if it is relevant, I have TERM=dumb in the environment for
starting Emacs).

In GNU Emacs 21.3.50.32 (i686-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.6.1)
