Hello!

Although emacs/lisp/loadup.el makes disp-table.el only be loaded when in MS-DOS or Windows NT it is loaded at run-time:

(/usr/local/bin/emacs-22.0.50)
Loading disp-table...done
Loading encoded-kb...done
Sind jetzt in PETEs .emacs

In X11 disp-table does not hurt, but when running without windows in Apple's Terminal application umlauts are displayed as '?.' GNU Emacs 21.3.50 from CVS does a besser job when never loading disp-table.el. How can I make disp-table non-existant? Beside removing the files ... I really don't need and want latin1 things since our European currency eats Latin-15.

In GNU Emacs 22.0.50.1 (powerpc-apple-darwin7.8.0, X toolkit, Xaw3d scroll bars)
 of 2005-03-20 on Latsche.local
configured using `configure '--without-carbon' '--with-x' '--without-pop' '--with-xpm' '--with-jpeg' '--with-tiff' '--with-png' '--with-gif' '--with-x-toolkit=lucid' 'CFLAGS=-I/sw/include' 'CPPFLAGS=-I/sw/include' 'LDFLAGS=-L/sw/lib''
