emacs -nw -q --no-site-file
Then evaluate this:
(frame-parameter (selected-frame) 'background-mode)
The result is: light
Then do: M-x xterm-mouse-mode RET
evaluate the expression again, now the result is: dark
As a result all the standard faces change colors...
