My guess is that there will be no custom properties like 'saved-value
and such to copy or move, because if Custom does not know that the
face is an alias when .emacs is read, it will believe that it is
dealing with a "rogue" face.

It seems that even if the deffacealias stuff would work (which seems
doubtful), you would still need the patch I proposed for cus-face.el
for the case where the deffacealias is executed before .emacs is read.
