      Sure it  does :-) !  But  I'm wondering what's the  point of testing
      that (point) isn't inf-equal to (point-min). An explanation anyone ?

The code should not be run at the beginning of the buffer.
However, perhaps it will never be called there, so perhaps
the test is unnecessary.
