I thought you were the (Mac-)maintainer ;-). Is it Steven Tamm (I'm
just curious)? Anyway, thank you for your work on the Mac side!
I agree with you about the `matter of taste'-argument in general, it's
just that I thought that the screen flashing is obviously an annoying
pain that has only been overlooked so far ...

Thank you! There is also the argument that Emacs should behave very
similar on all platforms, and that is what your patch does: inversion
of the minibuffer and the first line as in X11. I hope that will
convince the maintainer.
