mouse-on-link-p: Args out of range: 760, 760

Symptoms:

When starting emacs:
% emacs -D

and then clicking below the text on the splash screen with the mouse to 
get rid of the splash screen, Emacs beeps and this comes up in *Messages*:

mouse-on-link-p: Args out of range: 760, 760.

Clicking higher up (i.e. smaller y coordinate) sometimes does not produce this
in *Messages*.  Click on a bigger y coordinate does.  The coordinates in
the message always have x and y values the same, it looks like the x coordinate
reported actually is the y coordinate.

If emacs crashed, and you have the emacs process in the gdb debugger,
please include the output from the following gdb commands:
    `bt full' and `xbacktrace'.

/opt/emacs-cvs/share/emacs/22.0.50/etc/DEBUG for instructions.
