GC bug?

I made a diary entry and then called calendar and Emacs immediately
hung or went into an infinite loop, presumably in diary-list-entries,
since the last message was "Preparing diary...". I could get out of
the loop by typing C-g. The same thing happened when I tried to save
the diary file. I started a fresh Emacs and there was no such
problem. I still had the other Emacs running so I attached it to gdb,
induced the loop and got this partial backtrace:

...and so on, till I quit the backtrace. I then killed some of the
buffers I had open (not that many were open, I think <30) and at that
point the problem with the calendar and diary stopped. I've continued
running the same Emacs process under gdb for hours since then, but the
hang up or loop has not returned.
