I do not immediately understand what you mean.  `load' does not use a
file representation.  It may or may not look for files in particular
representations (it looks for compressed representations iff Auto
Compression mode is enabled).

Anyway, a name, having to be reasonably short, can never completely
accurately describe what a variable or function does.  So the question
is whether the _docstring_ could be mistakenly interpreted in the way
you are afraid of, whatever that is.
