I just did, with today's CVS on MS-Windows, and didn't see any
problem.
There's one source of uncertainty here: Drew didn't post a complete
recipe to reproduce the problem. Specifically, after invoking
"emacs -q" there are 2 buffers, but Drew didn't tell which ones' names
he typed when Ediff prompted twice for the two buffers. I used two
combinations: the same buffer *scratch* to both prompts, and *scratch*
against *Messages*; neither combination signalled an error.
