painful ui change in find-alternate-file

A recent ui change to the find-alternate-file
command between emacs 21.4 and the current cvs emacs
has been causing me difficulty

When I wish to discard edits in a buffer without saving
them, I historically have used the find-alternate-file
command to revisit the same file.

Previous versions of emacs would ask me:
"Buffer foo is modified; kill anyway? (yes or no)"
but the current cvs version of emacs asks me:
"Buffer foo is modified; save it first? (yes or no)"

I have long ingraned the keystroke "C-x C-v RET yes RET"
to revert buffers, but now this has the exact opposite
effect than I intended, and it saves the buffer for me
instead of discarding changes.

I understand that the revert-buffer command is a more appropriate
interface, but since it was not bound to a default keystroke I have
never gotten in the habit of using it.

Thanks,
Darrin
