emacs -nw vs. default-indicate-empty-lines

Concerning emacs' lack of those tildes like vi shows after the bottom
of the file (I have appended some below)
  (describe-variable (quote default-indicate-empty-lines))
should mention
(This feature currently doesn't work on text-only terminals.)
like Info does.

Better yet, implement vi's tildes. Maybe the code can be copied from
one of those vi emulation modes. Of course allow different favorite
strings, not just "~".

(I mean there I was using emacs -nw and thinking, naw, 19 years behind vi?)

By the way, "empty-lines" is not as good a name as
"lines-after-end-of-file" or something.

Real EOF tildes (hiding some "payload" (none today (sorry))) should be
rare:

~
~
~
