If you look at Gnome and KDE I guess you will cover the majority of users and
key bindings.
Generally, any Alt/Ctrl/Shift-F* or any combination thereof (i.e. Alt-F1,
Ctrl-F2, Ctrl-Alt-F2, and so on) are reserved in KDE and Gnome to window
functions (move, resize, etc.).
You mentioned Alt-Tab, but also Alt-Shift-Tab, Ctrl-Tab. and Ctrl-Shift-Tab
are used to move focus between windows in various ways.
Ctrl-Alt-Delete of course. Alt-escape, Alt-Print and Ctrl-Print are also
common.
Ctrl-Alt-Left/Right/up/Down and Ctrl-Shift-Alt-Left/Right/Up/Down are used to
navigate between desktops.
Then Ctrl-Alt-L to lock the screen, Ctrl-Alt-D to hide/show all windows (show
desktop).
So a brief list of key kombinations to avoid using would be:
Alt-Tab, Alt-Shift-Tab, Ctrl-Tab, Ctrl-Shift-Tab
Ctrl-Alt-Left/Right/Up/Down, Ctrl-Shift-Alt-Left/Right/Up/Down
Alt-Escape, Ctrl-Alt-Escape
Alt-Print, Ctrl-Print
Ctrl-Alt-Delete
Alt-Fkey (i.e. F1, F2, ...)
Ctrl-Fkey
Ctrl-Shift-Fkey
Ctrl-Alt-D
Cltr-Alt-L
Alt-Space
I can send a more detailed list what these usually does if you need it, but
now it is christmas, so this is all I have time for :-)
Merry Christmas all,
Jan D.
