I mean the mode-line face setting in my code is only effective in the
initial frame. In any frames created by 'C-x 5 2' the mode-line face
is changed to the default as follows:
You should have said that explicitly the first time!
Anyway, now I see. And I agree it is a bug. I suspect that the code
for creating a frame is letting the X resource for the face override
the customization of the face.
Could you look at your X resources (do `xrdb -query') and see if you
have a resource Emacs.mode-line.attributeBackground?
