Using the -profile or +profile options you add or remove certain
"profiles" to the image. You can read more here:

Tumme will probably work just perfect without the +profile option but
I think the thumbnail files might be larger, if the original contained
these profiles.

Why the use of this makes things fail on your system, I don't know. I
just followed your recipe (in a terminal, so I could not see any
images, but I got no errors and the thumbnail files was created
without any problem. I will test more later.) in a new CVS Emacs.

Could someone else test as well?
