And here is yet another regressive bug introduced by that change:
I do `M-x locate RET autorevert', then `M-x rename-uniquely' to
start conducting a second locate search (the routine recommended way
to start a new search while keeping the results of the previous one)
and then do `M-x locate RET ielm'. My autorevert results now get
overwritten. in spite of the `M-x rename-uniquely'.
This is yet another regressive bug.
I believe that _instead_ of applying your patch, the apparently
misguided 2006-09-09 changes should be completely reverted (before
releasing Emacs 22), getting rid of all three _regressive_ bugs we
know about, as well as of those we do not know about yet that were
introduced by that change.
Sincerely,
Luc Teirlinck.
