I think it's a font problem. Do you know which font is used
for that character?

This seems to be a bug. Please load descr-text.el (source,
not the byte-compiled one), do M-x toggle-debug-on-error,
and do M-x describe-char. The *Backtrace* buffer will show
you exactly which code causes that error.
