I googled around for info on buffer-local variables and came up with this: ;; Make adaptive fill mode consistent with emacs-wiki markup (add-to-list 'emacs-wiki-mode-hook (lambda () (set (make-local-variable 'adaptive-fill-regexp) "[ \t]*\\(-+[ \t]*\\|[0-9]+[.)][ \t]*\\)*"))) Does that look right?
