Unless, again, it is qualified in use.
CURL, for non-UK readers, is the consortium of research libraries in the UK and Ireland. They are working towards a wider range of 'research support services' of which the institutional repository may be a part, and towards a new sense of discovery in a very changed network world. Overall, one could imagine how it could be more specialized to the needs of those interested in this topic and how the various services presented could be more integrated.
This does away with the need to struggle with multiple players, and supports the easy linking and embedding which is promoted by YouTube.
Overall, one could imagine how it could be more specialized to the needs of those interested in this topic and how the various services presented could be more integrated. Tagging and comments are supported as one would expect.
This is not to say that it is easy to find these numbers, but it would be interesting context. dk to any great degree during the selection process'. They report some support for the idea of 'bookable' library advice at the point of need, as, for example, when writing an assignment. The work that Dave Pattern has done with the University of Huddersfield catalogue is an example here. dk to any great degree during the selection process'. The service will act as a portal for the discovery of Australian people and organisations by clustering entries created by partner agencies, with links to related resources. Indicative use cases are discussed. The field studies were organized around a 'cultural probe' where library users were given a notebook, a camera, a scissors and gluestick. The library catalogue in the new discovery environment: some thoughts.
There were 'field studies' at several libraries, contextual interviews based on these, interviews with library staff, and followup workshops where earlier results were used to shape questions. I uploaded one presentation which worked very smoothly. Indicative use cases are discussed.
A critical driver here is the benefit of consolidation, and discussion of what level of consolidation is useful. This does away with the need to struggle with multiple players, and supports the easy linking and embedding which is promoted by YouTube. This is not to say that it is easy to find these numbers, but it would be interesting context. Indeed, institutions are already investing significant amounts in locally developed solutions given market failures, which leads to redundant effort.
The report notes that users do not use 'library staff, the local library catalog, or bibliotek. dk to any great degree during the selection process'.
In one followup workshop, the idea of a personal contact for each unit was welcomed.
The report notes that users do not use 'library staff, the local library catalog, or bibliotek. As we move forward, the reverse will increasingly be the case. Here, a browser tool may, for example, recognise an ISBN in a Web page and use that to search a library resource. This is done for purposes of searching, browsing, discovery, translation, mapping, semantic reasoning, subject indexing and classification, harvesting, alerting etc. One, I wonder will Google Scholar and Google Book Search change this perception. The work that Dave Pattern has done with the University of Huddersfield catalogue is an example here.
Because Sakai exists, it is is suggested by some, Blackboard is more responsive to standards issues and the hope is that it may lead Blackboard to lower prices.
The study took an ethnographic approach, using a variety of qualitiative techniques to try to build up a rich picture of library perceptions and expectations.
Think of Amazon or Google Scholar. People were asked to record impressions in the notebook and to respond to the statements. Currently it checks prices in several book buying sites, will look in selected library sites, or will interact with Worldcat.
In the notebook were pasted various 'provocative' statements. This is not meant as a summary; it is a very selective sampling.
