        Fixed bugs #8139 and #8140.  Compiling options managed by the configure 
script are now *) --enable-debug => for debugging code *) nothing => for 
standard compilation of the code (more portable) *) --enable-opt => better g++ 
optimizations.  The 'language' module options use less optimizations to prevent 
excessive memory usage at compile time: always uses no optimizations except in 
the --enable-opt (-O1 replaces -O2).
