hi there,

i collected all the notes we had for the first chapter of maths and placed it 
into a file named numbers.tex; it is now being built as the first chapter of 
the book. please feel free to have a read of it and report back some feedback 
to me please. the worked examples are currently sitting in a file named 
examples.tex and need to be converted to agree with the text.

i'd say the current format (of that file) is pretty stable, but the actual 
content itself could do with a good bashing. i'm not too sure how readable it 
is for a 15 year old rural kid, for example.
