At the moment I build libfluidsynth packages with LADSPA enabled.

I would not compile it in by default. It has been tested by too few
people. And personally, I prefers solutions such as Pd+fluid~ or
fluidsynth+jack+your-prefered-ladspa-host to add LADSPA effects to the
synthesizer.
