Though Open Type is a registered trademark of
Microsoft, they say it is a open format. They do
accept proposals from font developers provided the
feature proposed is not already suitably rendered by
the features present in the specifications. All the
specifications are liable to change anytime after
*they* feel the proposed change is justified.
