Hello,

Thank you for this testing and the report. I remember you reported on December 23, 2005 that the problems with FreeSans in OpenOffice 1.1.3 on GNU/Linux remained even after I correctly imported the anchor points from Gargi. I think you did not test in OpenOffice 1.1.4 on GNU/Linux at the time, while OpenOffice 1.1.4 on Windows XP allegedly worked without problems, as did OpenOffice 2.0, Gedit 2.6.4, Kwrite 4.4, Mozilla 1.8a5, Mozilla Firefox 1.0.6 and Konqueror 3.4.1 on GNU/Linux and Notepad, MS Word, IE 6.0 and Mozilla Firefox 1.0.7 on Windows XP.

I believe I forgot to ask back then whether Gargi 1.9 works fine with OpenOffice 1.1.3 on Linux? If it does, I regret I am at the moment short of explanation why FreeSans exhibits problems with composed characters while the original Gargi does not - it looks that there is something apart from the anchor point tables that we didn't properly import into FreeSans. Perhaps I should compare the sources and try to figure out the differences between Gargi and the Devanagari part of Free Sans.

With kind regards,
Primoz

Hello,
We have tested the latest version of FreeSans.ttf (for Devanagari
script) and have noticed problems in case of openoffice1.1.3 and
Openoffice1.1.4 .
It works fine on mozilla , kwrite and Gedit.

Perhaps snapshopts attached will help you to visulaise the problem.

It has yet to be tested on Windows platform.

With Regards,
